Re-Elect School Board Yard Sign FINAL JPEG.jpg

The common-sense conservative candidate ensuring student success, encouraging innovation, supporting school choice, protecting parental rights in education.

The School District of Indian River County (SDIRC) has achieved significant academic milestones during my time on the board.

LET'S KEEP THE MOMENTUM GOING

Promises Made - Promises Kept

Most notably, SDIRC achieved an "A" rating for 3 consecutive years.

Continuous Improvement in state ranking, from 38 in 2018-2019 to 5 in 2024-2025.

3rd graders rank 2nd in the state with 71% English Language Arts achievement.

Middle and High school acceleration has reached 81% and 84% in the state.

96% of our high school students are graduating from SDIRC public schools.

Treasure Coast Technical College expanded its offerings to include a full culinary and hospitality program.

Expanded STEAM resources, innovation, and enhanced community engagement under the leadership of Dr. Moore, our Florida Superintendent of the Year.

School choice options for every student have always been an important concern. As such, I initiated and championed the launch of a Classical Education model at Pelican Island Classical Magnet School, which just opened this 2025-2026 school year. The classical approach uses the trivium, incorporating grammar, logic, and rhetoric to foster critical thinking through a focus on civics, literature, and Singapore math.

Every SDIRC offers a special choice program giving parents and students more academic options.

Parents no longer have to worry about transportation, since transportation is provided for eligible students, regardless of SDIRC school choice.

Curriculum transparency is critical for parents and other constituents alike. This includes library and classroom books made available to students. I was pivotal in establishing a charge to evaluate the use of school media centers. A full investigation revealed that our libraries needed to be updated; books needed to be weeded, and technology upgrades were long overdue in these spaces.

As a result, we now have world-class media centers at both of our high schools. Books are now properly vetted, technology is state-of-the-art, and media centers are fully utilized by students and staff members.

Curriculum, library books, and supplemental materials need to be age and grade-level-appropriate, standards-based, and selected through a transparent process. Parents have a right and a responsibility to be involved in that process.

Parental Rights are protected in SDIRC.

Under my leadership and advocacy, we created the strongest parental rights policy and procedures, including adopting a parental rights proclamation that secures parents' fundamental right to decide what is in the best interest of their child in all aspects of education, medical decisions, and mental wellness.

In 2024, it was an honor to introduce the first parental rights proclamation in Florida, declaring October as Parental Rights and Appreciation Month. To read more about this initiative, visit Parental Rights Foundation or click here.

Education through Innovation

I want to continue to push the envelope even more with closing the achievement gap, focusing on differentiated instruction, and creating engaging learning experiences for all students. This places the focus on students'

skills and learning techniques, not oppositional culture.

Every graduating senior should have a post-graduate plan, whether college, university, military, or through a career and technical path.

Students should be exposed to real-world experiences,  community internships, and mentors in areas of interest.

Expanding our district's PATH Program as well as dual-enrollment access can provide greater opportunities for every graduate to prepare for higher education, enter the workforce, and achieve post-graduate success.

Career and Technical Education has expanded dramatically in high schools across the country.  We should expand vocational course offerings to more children countywide. Construction, Agriculture, and Veterinary Tech are great additions to our CTE offerings.

Students should receive more dual-enrolled options at Treasure Coast Technical College.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is everywhere. There are pros and cons to AI's uses in schools. However, I believe we need to be cautious when implementing AI policies in our schools with considerations toward balance, ethical standards, training, and infrastructure.

Use AI as a partner, not a replacement for teachers.

Establish clear guidelines for data use, bias mitigation, and academic honesty.

First, thoroughly train teachers on responsible AI use, then train students.

Ensure reliable tech and monitoring.
